Also: Since Apple “submits” your “review” for you when you even touch the stars, I am guessing that many of the 5-star “reviews” are, like one I apparently just submitted, mistakes! 1 star. I would give a zero if I could. I used to love Pages, despite some of its slowness and etc. But now I hate it. The 8 steps it takes to name a document (now only available as “Rename,” and requiring, literally, 8 steps, including immediately closing the document you just opened) make my workflow impossible. As a writer, I use Pages for poetry and drafts and often want and need multiple documents open at once. To have every document “named” “for” me as Blank x is not only absurd, it’s a complete time waster —and the fact that I can’t quickly name/rename a doc from within the doc is worse. Also, the new views are ugly — the whole thing is just a mess. How could anyone design a word-processing program so that naming your documents is a massive interruption in workflow? How could anyone design a word-processing program where all of your documents have essentially the same exact name automatically applied to them, forcing you to completely interrupt your workflow to rename them so that you will have a chance at knowing what they are later .... when previously, you could tell what it was .... it’s as if whoever designed this update (3 and beyond) never used the program.

I don’t use this app very often and in fact mainly use it to make memes every now and then, ergo, I can’t said much about how great the app is. HOWEVER, I will mention this one complaint that has stopped me from being able to use the app on my iPhone. The app never stops loading a new document when I select one, after pressing the plus sign. After deleting and reinstalling the Pages app several times, and even getting to a place where I had Wi-fi, it still didn’t allow me to create anything new. Also, it wouldn’t let me open a document up I originally made; I thought I could just open up an old and delete everything and rename it later, but the app couldn’t even open something that was old. Eventually I gave up and just downloaded the app to my iPad, and it worked fine. Although, I don’t take my iPad everywhere, of course, and would appreciate it if you fix this problem with the iPhone version. I have no idea myself on what’s going on, maybe the loading is taking forever. Hopefully you guys can figure it out. Thanks.

Use a different app if you need to use custom names, save files to a different location, use folders or type consistently. Pages changes keypad languages every few minutes too! This app is junk. It was useful, about 6 months ago but Apple let it go the way of Maps, Siri, Photos, Calendar and Contacts. I’d put Aperture on that list but Apple trashed it too. I’m reduced to rescuing my documents from oblivion using Word for Mac, Word on Windows and an old HP laptop, along with several 3rd Party search and file manager apps. Even the Help files are to access, confusing and hard to navigate. Steve Jobs would never have tolerated the demise of so many once-great tools. If you are an Apple developer ask your boss what happened to a process step called User Acceptance Testing. When you release junk without having real humans use it first you quickly lose credibility. Once lost, that trust is tough to regain. Here I go back to searching Blank 1 through Blank 35 files again.

Creating a “perfect” document in pages is not only possible, it is so easy! I read the negative reviews with astonishment and can only guess they were written by people who did not take the free Apple classes or participate in the workshops at their Apple stores. I have created booklets, forms, marketing fliers, and brochures for my real estate business and community activities that are second to none. One of them even captured a national award! Highly recommend, with the caveat that you will have a learning curve when you switch from MS Word and Pub - and it is well worth the transition. Your u will never go back!

I have an iPad Pro. I’m a speech writer. I rely heavily on my Pages app and I love to write in Pages on iPad Pro. 2 weeks ago, I did the iOS 11.1 upgrade. “What could POSSIBLY go wrong????” I’ll tell ya what... my Pages crashed and won’t load. I uninstalled and reinstalled. Nope. Did it again. Nope. Did the iOS upgrade and the app upgrades as they came available. Chatted with support and they wanted me to wipe my iPad and reinstall.... I did that at the Genius Bar. I was good for a few days and then, GUESS WHAT? Pages is ghosting me again!!! By the way, the app is fine on my iPhone... HOWEVER... Do you have ANY idea how annoying it is to type a 6 page speech on an iPhone???? Not recommended. Then I tried going to the full iCloud site thru my iPad to access the app.... boy, was THAT a time waster!!! I’ll keep trying, but Pages is not very responsive using that method. I need my Pages app back on my iPad Pro. I need it to be stable. And I need it NOW. HELP. BTW... no stars since I have NO USABLE APP.

Updated my IPad to 11.1.1 and there was of course an update for Pages 3.3.1 Now when I select all to copy and paste it took 47 seconds for the select and copy process, before it took only a couple seconds, if that. Occasionally while waiting for the select all and copy process it crashes (closes) pages. You guys may need to look into that. Pages was solid with IOS 9, 10, now its a problem. What’s up guys? Apple product on a apple device. Someone needs to see what’s going on. Again not sure if its the OS thats doing it or Pages, because several updates ago I never saw lag/crashing like this on pages. Please it needs to be fixed. Used to be 5 stars, now its 2. I’ll revise it when it gets fixed.

App freezes now and documents won’t open. You click on files and it just hangs & does nothing. Newest Pages version 3.3.1 & newest iOS version 11.1.1 on an iPhone 7. The app at this point is essentially useless, and I desperately need to open/view/edit docs with it on this specific device, so right now I’m screwed. Also, the newest UI is something awful. Hard to navigate, control and find things that used to be very simple. iOS 11 (as a whole) and the version of Pages that was re-vamped to be compatible, has been an absolute nightmare. Completely ruined and it seems like nothing is being done. Look at the reviews; I’m far from the only person who is experiencing major flaws. What are you doing, Apple? What exactly is your vision for iOS 11 and the apps to go with it? Nothing has been seamless, good or IMO, improved at all. Feels like we’ve gone backwards.

When I updated to iOS 11.0.2, Pages started having a lot of problems: it often simply refused to open anything (though that’s since improved for whatever reason), but apparently any files I created between Jan. and Aug. 2016 no longer exist. The file icons are still there, albeit with a graphic (rather than showing miniature text), but they never open, and when I try to duplicate those files, it says they don’t exist. In other words, updating cost me 27 important documents that seem to simply be gone now. Edit: Most recent app update fixed the problem, restoring all my old files! Way to go, folks. Well done! That was my only issue. Love the app otherwise. Changed rating to 5 stars.

As others have written, pages worked. And so I used it for some serious writing and kept each document as a pages file. Then came the latest update and suddenly I could see my documents but not open them. Simply would not open. Tried emailing them, no luck. Tried saving them to a non pages format no luck. Thought maybe my recent upgrade was corrupted, so deleted pages app, thinking documents would remain, and downloaded the app again. Unfortunately, went to open documents and all had disappeared. All that work gone and no copy. Stupid of me not to have saved it in another format, but I depended on past history as predictive of future performance . Even tried resyncing my device with laptop backup. No luck. What a foolish and careless upgrade. Bugs, especially one this severe should have been eliminated before release instead of users paying the price for sloppy work.

With iOS 11 rolling out there have been several issues with this version of pages that I did not have with the iOS 10 version. For one you cannot change the document name while you are working on it, you have drop whatever work you are doing and exit the screen in order to rename it. Exporting and uploading documents to sites seems to have an issue and the only way I have been able to process my uploads is by opening my docs in word after I finished typing them in Pages. The new Files system seems to be broken too with me not being able to move past documents around to my local iPad storage as well as not being able to have a native PDF reader built in.
